Supplying Excellence: Working on the OOS Prometheus and the OOS Gretha

In 2013, OOS International successfully secured a four-plus-four-year charter contract for two of its semi-submersible crane and accommodation platforms. The OOS Prometheus and the OOS Gretha are stationed in the Campos basin off the coast of Brazil. Atlas Professionals is providing the crew to both platforms. In Atlas’ 35 years of working in the Energy, Marine and Renewable industries, this has been one of its biggest projects to date. Svitzer books two Sanmar tugs for Ichthys LNG

Copenhagen-based Svitzer is ordering two more ASD tugs from Sanmar Shipyards to operate at Inpex’s Ichthys LNG project at the port of Darwin in Australia. The two 80-tonne bollard pull RAstar 2800 terminal tugs will escort LNG carriers, LPG carriers and condensate carriers at the port of Darwin from late next year. They are fitted with a render-recovery winch, an aft winch, FIFI1 and an LNG package. Each has space for up to 10 crew. Svitzer has already ordered six ASD tugs from Sanmar. It said the latest newbuildings are part of its “promise to support the expected increase in operational activity within the port of Darwin”. Read More
Boskalis and Kotug establish European harbour towage joint venture

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) and KOTUG International B.V. (KOTUG) have reached agreement on the merger of their European harbour towage operations. The Memorandum of Understanding signed by the parties in late 2014 has now been formalized following a thorough process. The combined operations will be transferred to a 50/50 joint venture bringing together the European harbour towage activities of SMIT, a Boskalis subsidiary, and KOTUG. The operations will continue under the name KOTUG SMIT Towage. Read More
Update on Rijkswaterstaat: Atlas places 40 personnel to the Dutch fleet

It has only been three weeks since Atlas Professionals began its collaboration with Rijkswaterstaat. Since then Atlas Professionals has placed 40 maritime personnel across the Rijksrederij on a variety of coastal and inland projects. Since 1st December Atlas’ Urk office has already supplied maritime personnel to Rijkswaterstaat fleet that consists of Patrol, Coastguard, Oil recovery and survey vessels. The majority of positions that Atlas have supplied are Able Seaman, Cook, Steward, Chief Mate and Master. Read More
